Lumiere video arises from the tradition of the French Lumiere brothers. Credited with some of the first footage captured, in 1895, the Lumieres are also recognized for holding the first public film screening, showing ten shorts that lasted only twenty minutes total. At the time, Louis Lumiere stated, “The cinema is an invention without a future,” believing that everyday photography and video was ultimately nonsensical. Yet, we stand firm that Lumiere principles are essential to our existence as artists, media producers, visual creatures, and world citizens.

I’ve been following his Lumiere videos (with the nice caption “This is a Lumiere video. The video contains no audio. Feel free to leave your own music running”) since the beginning. Good stuff, have a look.

You might know Doc Popular as a nerdcore rapper, or a lo-fi techno musician who plays on bent toy electronics, or maybe you bought one of his crafty blue jean wallets, or read one of his comics, or maybe you’ve seen him in a video or two. But I think this is the first time anyone has actually got him to sit down and talk about his career as a yo-yo champion.

Strangely enough, this afternoon while cleaning out some drawers, I found an old bag of yo-yo strings from way back where I got bitten by the bug while doing a function as a sushi waiter at a championship in London, taking place in an old castle. But that’s another story…

During these days and time slots tv-tv will be open for anyone to participate with their own programs simply by uploading to t-vlog. You are welcome to upload any short video clips but please note that the max filesize is 40 mb. Everything will be transmitted on tv-tv during the dates mentioned above. Upload now or during the actual transmission — think of it as remote-controlling a whole tv-station!

The studio couch and tv will be open during transmissions so feel free to drop by for a drink, snacks and some collective tv-viewing!

I had the pleasure of watching Svanes excellent quest for José Andersen a second time as well as some other fine pieces by Kristoffer Gansing that’s one of the guys behind it all.

Tonight it’s on again. Yesterday I missed it, but this time I’ll try and make it. Maybe a few of my things will be on, you never know.

It’ll be broadcasted on the Copenhagen local channel, so if small movies and videoblogging’s not your thing, there’ll be something for you at around 1AM…

According to the stats on blip.tv, this video of Froda and Haugstrup doing a videblogging seminar at DONA has been viewed over 3700 times at time of writing.

Without revealing too much, I think it’s safe to say that DONA’s 200 members combined with the number of visitors on my blog don’t even come close to 3700.

‘Videoblogging’ in the title probably make up for some of it, but I’m going for ‘bug in the stats software’…I think…
