The day before reboot (making that particular week jam-packed with web goodness), Social Square is hosting a conference entitled Samtalerne (conversations).
It’s a local event, focusing on social media, supported by the community. Trine-Maria has more information in Danish.
I’ll participate — and I’m curious about the ‘conversation’ frame as I’ve been spending quite some time thinking about the various ways we’re defining what we do with social media. More about that later.

I find the terminology very interesting as well. We choose the word “converstions” because we keep hearing that these new tools (blogs, wikis, vlogs, discussiongroups) are “conversational” — as in “there is an exchange” going on.
Problem is that terms like ‘communication’ and ‘dialogue’ are already in use for other disciplins. Communication is information — it is a one way street — and dialogue-marketing here in Denmark means that your are extremely talented at merging letters with information about your customers — obtained in questionaires/surveys where YOU decided what to ask for :-)
In order to take part in a conversation you have to listen :-)

It _is_ what all socializing basically is about in the end — but I’m still curious as to how we define ourselves in the field of social media if we don’t want to end up talking ‘corporate blogging’ all the time. Social media is capable of so much more — the thing is if it’s clear to customers etc. that ‘conversation’ isn’t just about entering dialogue in a recognizable form with a good set of values, but also hook into internal knowledge work, collaborative development, strategic work etc.
