Berlin hotel recommendations?

I’m thinking of getting away for a few days, preferably to somewhere well-known and cheap. To work on my own projects, catch up on a few things, play with some cameras, read and write.

Plain tickets are dirt cheap, but I’m looking for a hotel with wifi. Either you get the big chains; boring with pay-by-the-hour wifi — or they don’t write if they got wifi or not.

Any recommendation on hotels in Mitte, Kreuzberg or Prenzlauerberg with wifi that won’t cost me a fortune, will be much appreciated!

Thank you for the tips. After spending waaay too much time getting “we’re fully booked” from everywhere I called, I finally managed to find a hotel somewhere almost close to something I know.… Maybe there’s a big conference going on right now — or people are doing long weekends?
